Within recent times, statistics show that violent crimes are on the rise, not just in Trinidad and Tobago, but within the Caribbean and most certainly the rest of the civilized world. Most of these crimes range from assault, aggravated assault, robberies, rapes, sexual assaults, homicides, shooting rampages and kidnappings. Perusing the news reports reveal that a significant number of victims in workplace related and other incidents offered no resistance, with most others choosing to perform some sort of non-confrontational action such as bargaining, fleeing, stalling or hiding from the attacker.
Avoidance is the best defence. Sadly however, the attacker always chooses the time, place and method of attack, hence the Combat Readiness deduction that you are likely to be attacked when you least expect it.
Combat Readiness describes a state of preparedness to defend oneself based upon an adopted lifestyle of situational awareness, which is centered on personal safety, self defence awareness and assault prevention. This program has been taught to the military, police and security units since 1981 and civilian groups in Trinidad and Tobago and within the Caribbean region since 2000.
Major Sarwan Boodram is a highly decorated and experienced master of the martial arts and an inductee of the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame. He holds several accolades for his achievement and contributions to survival combat systems training. He is an accomplished and internationally certified trainer, lecturer and former Special Forces Commander of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force. He has also served as a specialist tactical operations Commander and trainer to the Special Anti Crime Unit of Trinidad and Tobago and other national security elements. His over thirty years of active operational experience in violent and volatile environments in both military and law enforcement arenas places him in high demand for his expertise and services in Combat Readiness throughout the Caribbean Region and Internationally.
The aim of this program is to sensitise persons on how to correctly identify, avoid and take control of a dangerous situation in order to secure their own personal safety and the safety of others. To achieve the aim, this program provides the means by which persons will access information and, via practice, develop and gain an enhanced awareness of dangerous situations, effectively perform techniques for diffusing a potential conflict and possess knowledge of how to manage the effects of fear. In addition, there are simple, instinctive physical defence techniques which are presented to help increase your self confidence and assertiveness and help in the development of a blueprint for personal safety training.
